Froebel's Gift 2.1
Based on the concept of Froebel's Gift 2, which introduces children to tangible objects to discover the differences and similarities between basic geometric shapes.
List of components
- Geometric blocks - a cylinder, triangular prism and a cube
- Block A - only one solution for each shape
- Block B - geometric shapes look the same from the front - multiple solutions
- Block C - geometric shapes look the same from the top - one solution
Using Froebel's Gift 2.0 to explore shapes:
Starting with Block A, get the child to insert the geometric blocks into each slot. There is only one solution for each shape, and the result view from the top (or front) shows three distinct shapes.
Next, the child will attempt to insert the geometric blocks into Block B, where there is more than one solution possible, as none of the shapes are constrained to the slots. The result view from the top shows three distinct shapes.
Finally, the child will attempt to insert the geometric blocks into Block C, where there is only one solution possible, as each of the shapes are constrained to a particular slot. The result view from the top shows three identical shapes.
